We got up about 7 and started packing up. We took a break for breakfast, then returned to the room to finish packing. It was pouring down rain outside, so Carl pulled car under hotel canopy while loading.

And we took off, driving south to Yarmouth. It was foggy and rainy all the way. We stopped for lunch at Tim Horton’s on the outskirts of Yarmouth. We'd seen them all over the place in Nova Scotia and were curious as to what they were. Sort of like a Starbuck's, only with more food, including sandwiches and soup. Curiosity satisfied.

We arrived a bit early at the ferry dock, but we parked in the entrance drive and waited anyway. The rain eventually stopped and the fog lifted some. The customs guys searched the car once we were on the ferry grounds.

The Cat was late arriving, blowing its fog horn as it approached the dock. It soon had all the cars and trucks off and it was time to board. Boarding took a while. Once again, we were one of the last cars onto the ferry. Loading was delayed a couple of times because the owners of the larger car or truck had stepped into the lounge and hadn't returned to their vehicle in a timely manner.

We were soon settled (on a ramp this time) and moved up to the main deck. We checked out the movie offerings and decided which ones we would watch/nap through. It was an uneventful crossing.

First we watched Stranger than Fiction. Then Astronaut Farmer. When we were about an hour out of port, we went out on the fantail where we found that the fog was just about gone and the moon was reflecting off the water. Lovely!

We soon arrived in Portland. We were almost the last car off the ferry and almost the last to clear customs and immigration...

An hour’s drive to Newmarket landed us at the Hickory Pond Inn about 10:20. We found room (there was a note on the door giving us directions), and moved in. The Inn seems to be filled with college students. Later, we were to learn that there was a conference going on to teach people how to interview for graduate school. We didn't know that such things were necessary.

I checked email, then called Mom. She got new car today. Finally crashed about 1.....
