There was a red sky dawn this morning (I saw it on way to little houses). We packed up - mostly before breakfast, the rest after. Breakfast was raspberry pancakes and link sausages. After breakfast, Angel and her family let the sled dog puppies loose. They sure have a lot of energy. They seem to have two speeds - full, dead run and sound asleep! The photo to the left shows one of the puppies who finally slowed down enough to tackle an apple. We finally left the camp about 10:30. We were going to take the other route back to civilization, but, after about five miles, the road was blocked. Someone had thrown a chain across it and wanted driver's license information to continue. We wondered what that was all about as we turned back and returned to the fork which would take us back to the original road we came in on. We had lunch in Greenville at Auntie M’s. A fairly decent local restaurant - the type the locals frequent. And we stopped at a Rite Aide for some supplies on the way to Bar Harbor. We soon arrived and checked into the Maine Street Motel. I had stayed at this motel the last time I was in Bar Harbor. It hadn't changed much and is still convenient to the main part of town. We finally managed to connect to internet after six days without it. The wireless connection seems to only work in the lobby. I deleted 515 emails... After Carl checked his email, I got the photos all downloaded and my journal notes caught up. By then, it was supper time, so we walked into the main part of town for dinner. We ate at the Thirsty Whale - chowder (clam for Carl, corn/lobster for me), then walked back. It sprinkled on us some. We hit the showers and zonked out for the night. |
