Once again, we got a late start - ignored the alarm clock... After breakfast, we headed straight to Peggy’s Cove, to continue where we had left off yesterday. We wandered the harbor area first, taking a bunch of pictures, a sampling of which follows. The photo on the left above shows an overview of the harbor at Peggy's Cove with some fishing boats tied to their wharves. The other photo shows a table at a dockside restaurant with Adirondack chairs for seating. The photo on the left above shows a string of dories (small row boats). The center one is a dory hull and its reflection. The photo on the right above is a boat "bumper" (or fender) and its reflection. The photo on the left above shows a string of lobster buoys hanging against the wall of a fishing shack. The center photo shows three sets of fisherman's gloves drying in the sun. The photo on the right shows some of the tools of the fishing trade - a fishing boat tied to the dock, a lobster pot drying in the sun, and a dropped work glove. The photo on the left above shows a stack of lobster pots (traps) with some of the houses of Peggy's Cove in the background. The photo in the center is a jumble of tangled ropes. The photo on the right shows a stack of lobster pots (traps) with one of the fishing shacks of Peggy's Cove in the background. Then we strolled up to lighthouse. A piper was playing the bagpipes there today. Must be a lot of cruise ships in Halifax today, as there were people and tour buses everywhere! The photo on the left above shows a couple sitting in a bench, admiring the view, with the lighthouse in the background. The center photo shows the piper that was playing that day. The photo on the right is another view of the Light at Peggy's Point with some of the tourists who were visiting that day. Carl is so patient. In the photo on the left, he's watching the water and thinking deep thoughts while waiting for me to finish taking pictures. And he's good at carrying equipment, too - that's one of my camera backpacks on his back. We wound up eating lunch at the cafe near the lighthouse - seafood chowder and gingerbread cake with soft serve ice cream. The line for lunch was pretty long. Mostly because various tours had reserved blocks of tables. Once those people had been seated, then the remaining reserved tables were released. We headed back towards Halifax, then drove out to Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park, where we walked a lot. One end of the beach seems to be a nude (possibly gay) beach... The photo on the left above shows the main beach at Crystal Crescent Beach and one of the little streams leading into it. The center photo is typical of most of the photos I took at this beach - close shots of rocks and surf. In this case, the surf had just retreated from washing over this little pebble and was still showing foam. The photo on the right shows a partially buried rock with a wave breaking over it. The photo on the left above shows some sea grasses against the water and horizon. The center photo shows some sea grasses growing through the boardwalk! The photo on the right shows a distant lighthouse through the rocks at one end of the beach. Then we drove back to hotel (without the detours this time) to cleanup for dinner. We had dinner at Boston Pizza. It was a good pizza - with shrimp??? We stopped by a grocery store for snacks, then back to hotel for more of Ken Burn’s The War. |
