We headed north, arriving at Bandon Beach in time for early light. There are some really nice sea stacks there.

The three photos above were taken from an overlook looking down on two different stretches of Bandon Beach.

After shooting from the overlook for a while, we proceeded down to Bandon Beach itself and walked around for a while. The photo on the left above shows some of the wave action going on and the photo on the right shows some of the pebbles and sand patterns formed by the surf.

Bandon Beach also had some interesting tide pools. The two photos above were taken at these tide pools. The photo on the left features a starfish among some sea anemones. The photo on the left shows some sea anemones.

Coquille River Light near Bandon Beach, OR After a late breakfast, we headed a little farther north, stopping first for a quick look at Coquille River Light (see photo on the left).

Cliffs surrounding Cape Arago, OR

Then we continued on, stopping at Cape Arago (see photo on the right), near Coos Bay to watch the large colony of seals and sea lions there. It’s a protected sanctuary, so most of the beaches were closed to humans. The sounds of the sea lions carried for miles!

There’s a nice lighthouse in that area, but we couldn’t find a clear shot of it, no matter which side roads we explored. Sunset was a wash that night, also.
