Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 I forgot to set the alarm, but got up on time anyway. Breakfast was here at hotel. Before leaving for the day, I sorted the laundry. Carl dropped me off at the Workshops, then he did laundry and relaxed. The class loaded up for a field trip to the main Borders to pick up some magazines and peruse book covers. What kind of photos are used for book covers? Back to class to tear the magazines apart, looking at the ads to see what ad designers used for photos. Discussed how they look for them. Most of afternoon was spent discussing legalities, such as model and property releases. It put a damper on my shooting this afternoon..... I did shoot some things, however. We had gone to downtown Santa Fe for the afternoon's shooting. The three photos above were taken during our wanderings around town and are typical tourist sights. The photo on the left is the Loretto Chapel. The center photo shows ristras (strands of dried chili) decorating an upper level balcony. The photo on the right is a very old door that graces a store which sells old doors. More photos from around town. The one on the left above shows an inner courtyard spotted while walking down the street. The center one shows the US and New Mexico flags flying high over the Palace of the Governors. And the one on the right shows the Spitz Clock near the Plaza in old downtown Santa Fe. The stores around the Plaza in Santa Fe were decked out for Valentine's Day, as can be seen in the three photos above. The left two are window displays and the right photo is a flag outside of a shop. Some of the other sights around Santa Fe this day. The photo on the left above shows one of the kinetic sculptures near the Loretto Chapel in motion. The center photo shows a drooping sunflower seed head. The photo on the right is one of my attempts to illustrate the concept of love..... Some quirky sights in Santa Fe. The photo on the left is a defaced monument located in the Plaza (the removed word was "savage"). The photo on the right shows one of the historic Route 66 signs appearing in town. Dinner was at Upper Crust (pizza place). We had an early dinner, since we were already in the vicinity. Then back to hotel to put away laundry and process photos. I discovered that I must have left my camera battery recharger at home, probably on my desk (later - I did). I can't find it anywhere. Fortunately, I don't need it yet and several of my classmates also shoot D2x cameras, so I may be able to borrow one or may even be able to purchase one at the workshop's store. I'll see tomorrow. What a day...... |
