This photo shows a defaced monument located in the Plaza (the removed word was "savage"). Whether the removal was vandalism or performed in the name of political correctness is open to debate. A sign posted near the monument implies that we know better now and don't use such inflammatory words. It also implied that the references to rebel would be removed eventually from the side of the monument referring to the Civil War, but those references still remain. I guess the Southerners don't have the political clout of the Indians....
