Another lovely day in Santa Fe (the weather man kept predicting snow all week). Up for breakfast, then got ready for the day. Carl dropped me off at the Workshops, complete with camera and laptop, then headed for the slopes again.

We had guest speakers this morning - wildlife photographers who have been very successful in the stock market - then looked at photos for the rest of the day. No lessons today. After class broke for the day, I had my one-on-one with Patrick. Frank discussion about the future. He gave me the name of a specific small agency that might be a good fit for me. He also pointed me towards microstock. Not quite "don't give up your day job", but close....

Carl showed up about the time we finished up. I made some pictures around the Workshops grounds, just because they were things I had noticed during the week.

The three photos above were all taken on the grounds of the Santa Fe Workshops, which are located on the grounds of the IHM Retreat Center in Santa Fe. The photo on the left above shows a cross reflected in a window. This courtyard is the one we passed through every day to get to the lunch area. The center photo shows the cross and bell that rise above the entrance to the courtyard mentioned above.is an abstract of the different layers of adobe above the main entrance to the Workshops offices. The photo on the right is an abstract of the different layers of adobe above the main entrance to the Workshops offices.

Then we headed back towards the motel. We stopped at a drugstore on the way, then hopped into the hot tub and discussed what Patrick had said. Between the hot tub and a hot shower, I started feeling better. I really am missing my daily exercise regime and haven't really been sleeping well - too much stress....

After the showers, we headed out to dinner at the Cowgirl with the gang. Patrick picked up the entire tab. My bourbon salmon was delicious. Carl's game burger was just okay... But they did have Fat Tire on tap!!! It was a boisterous dinner. Then back to the hotel to crash for the night.

We wondered if we'd wake up to snow this morning. It's been in the forecast all week - always predicted for about 24-36 hours away. This was the closest so far - it was supposed to start overnight. Nope. Dry as a bone.

Class started early today and Patrick really stuffed the knowledge in. We absorbed information steadily all morning. Carl did some Internet searching for apartments in Colorado so that we could look at some next week while we are there.

The snow held off all day - it was even sunny around lunch time. It got cooler when class dismissed. Carl picked me up and we came back to the hotel to hot tub again. Then clean up and go to dinner at the Inn at Loretto, sponsored by the Workshops. As usual, it was heavy on the Mexican food side. One was so hot that I can still taste it.... It was a fun dinner other than that.

After dinner, they had some slide shows. The first was a candid type show that the assistants had shot during the week, showing people hard at work (and not hard at work (g)). The rest showed what each class had produced for the week. Of course, ours was the best!!!

We said our goodbyes and returned to the hotel for the evening.

We slept in a little this morning, so we had to battle children for seats in the breakfast area...

Ristra, Santa Fe, NM

The photo on the left shows one of the ristras in the breakfast area of our hotel.

We packed up and left about 8:45. We ran into snow about Glorietta, but the roads were okay. The snow stopped just past Las Vegas and, by the time we crossed the border into Colorado, the skies were blue and clear.

Lunch was at K-Bob's in Raton. We stopped at the Welcome Center in Trinidad and picked up a bunch of brochures and maps and things, which we perused on our way north.

We checked into a Comfort Inn in Longmont. We literally dropped the suitcases and sprinted to the Sweet Tomatoes in Westminister. They must eat later here in Denver area - it was still very crowded at 7:30...

Back to the motel to check email and call it a night. They have pillowtop mattresses in this motel. Yah!!!!!
