Needless to say, we slept in this morning, almost missing breakfast.... They close the breakfast area at 9 am. We packed up and checked out and headed east.

We had an uneventful day until after lunch, which was at an Arby's in Limon, CO. It had started dusting snow while we ate there. The snow gradually increased until the roads were snow covered in places. The temperature was around 32, but very little ice was forming on the interstate. After about an hour, the snow changed to a light rain, stopped for a while, then the rain started again, then the snow started again. We finally stopped a little after 5 CST at a Comfort Inn in Hays, Kansas. Snow continued falling fairly heavily, but the temp is still above freezing.

After relaxing for a while (Carl took a short nap), we put on our hiking boots and walked across the street to Applebees, where we ate at the bar. The snow had stopped by then. So, we walked back and watched tv for the rest of the evening before going to bed early.

We got up early (6 am) per our prefered traveling routine. We both did our yoga, then drove out for breakfast at IHOP. The roads look clear, but it's foggy out this morning.

The fog lasted until late morning. We ate lunch at a Cracker Barrel in Topeka, Kansas. It was a dull, overcast day once the fog lifted.

We stopped for the night in East St. Louis, IL. We're at a Best Western tonight. We were checking in and the clerk was meticulously copying down and entering our information. He finally got to the point where he needed to run the credit card and said "I have to get my Mom".... She arrived and finished the transaction and approved what he had done....

Once again, we walked to a restaurant for dinner, this time at Lotawata Creek - lots of food, slow service. We split an order of pork chops with a Jack Daniels sauce. Tasted good, but..... We then walked back to our room for the night. We wound up staying up to watch the Oscars....

We're up early again. If we don't encounter any obstacles, we should be home tonight...

It was an uneventful day. Lunch was at another Cracker Barrel, this time just outside of Nashville.

Mother Nature treated us to a glorious sunset - just proving that the west doesn't have all the wonderful sunsets. We arrived home shortly after 6:30. We unpacked the car and Carl took off for the grocery store (milk, bananas, orange juice) and to pick up Arby salads for dinner. We popped a silly dvd into the player while we ate, hit the hot tub, then headed for bed. Tomorrow, we'll pick up the backlog of mail and start returning to normal.
