Monday, October 2 I still had an upset stomach and fever this morning. I also kept falling asleep. Kelly and Carl had breakfast at the coffee place across the street. They brought me back a bagel and a large cup of green tea. That's what I nibbled on for breakfast and lunch. My fever broke about 1:30 pm. I started feeling more human so I finally got up and took a shower and got dressed. Carl and Kelly, in the meantime went on our scheduled tour (Warner Brothers) while I slept some more. The tour had two parts - the first part included a tour guide and went through the back lot, the property building, and a sound stage. The second part was self guided and had several exhibits, including partial sets and some places you could put yourself into the picture. They had a good time and were gone most of the day. All the photos on this page were ones that Carl took during the tour. The photo on the left above shows a statue of Wonder Woman near the entrance. The center photo shows their tour guide and the New York City portion of the back lot. The photo on the right shows the studio's watertower. The photo on the left shows some of the puppets they used for some scenes from the Matrix movies. The photo on the right shows a small section of the prop house. Shelf after shelf of different kinds of lights. The prop house is four stories tall and is a huge warehouse. They were allowed on the first floor. Supposedly, the top floor is haunted... The photo on the left shows the entrance to a display room which ends the guided portion of the tour. The photo on the right shows Kelly taking photos of some of the items on display from Game of Thrones. She says she was taking pictures of some of the details in Daenerys's costume. The photo on the left shows Kelly with Wonder Woman's wings and lariat. The center photo shows Kelly trying to catch a flying letter from Hogwart's (Harry Potter). This uses forced prospective - the camera is set in a particular position and the result shows Kelly appearing in a room full of flying letters. The photo on the right shows Kelly coming out of Harry Potter's cabinet under the stairs. This wasn't the actual stairway from the movies, but was built just for the tourists. It also doubles as a storage cabinet... The photo on the left shows Newt's lab (from the Fantastic Beasts movies). However, this set was also designed for the tourists and wasn't in the movies. We had dinner at Shirley's Brasserie (here in the hotel). Dinner was served family style (good wood fired chicken, the chilis on the green beans were a bit much). I crashed soon after we got back to the room. |
