We slept in, packed, and got ready for the trip. Our plane wasn't scheduled to leave until about 1pm!

We changed planes in Cincinnati, then headed for Las Vegas. Not a bad trip. The plane was crowded, but that’s normal these days. Delta has instituted a policy of not providing meals in the coach cabin any more. However, they will sell you a sandwich or some cookies. According to a flyer, this is being expanded to all flights that normally served food in the past. I’m not sure I like the policy.

We arrived in Las Vegas in one piece and the luggage all made it, too.

We found the rental car bus and rode out to the off-site location to pick up our wheels for the next two weeks. We had a green Toyota RAV4, a smaller SUV. Not too bad - if you ignore the huge, heavy back door. It opens like a car door, yet curves in at the top. I cracked my head a couple of times on it before we learned to open it all the way before attempting to do anything at the back of the vehicle.

By the time we drove off the lot, the sun had set and the lights of Las Vegas had all come one - what a gaudy town!! Much brighter at night than during the day!

We were so busy gawking, we missed our exit for our hotel for the night. After wandering around at what we thought was the exit, out came the cell phone for a quick call to the hotel to ask directions. We had overshot by four exits.... Finally got checked in and had a late dinner there at the hotel, then shuffled bags from air travel configuration to on the ground travel.
