Saturday, October 8, 2016 We left home fairly early in the morning. Our goal for tonight is a wide spot in the road called Tropic, UT. We stopped for lunch in Grand Junction. We had a delightful waiter! Writing this a few months later, I can't even remember where we ate or what was so delightful about the waiter!!! Ah, the joys of getting older... After lunch, we continued along I-70 until it merged into I-15 and headed a bit south. I don't think we'd ever been on that particular stretch of road before. Along the way, we stopped at view points at Black Dragon Canyon and Ghost Rock. The photo on the left is of Black Dragon Canyon. And the one on the right is Ghost Rock Overlook. We never did find an explanation of either name. The two overlooks were only about five miles apart, but they made good places to get out and stretch our legs. Got to Tropic just before sunset when the sky turned the nearby mountain all kinds of pretty colors. This photo was taken from the door of our hotel room. We ate dinner at a nearby restaurant. We wound up splitting an entree. Good thing - the servings were very generous! The only downside was the noisy oriental family at the next table. Even the waitress tried to quiet them down. Unsuccessfully... |
