We packed up and headed farther east.

We stopped for a few minutes at Four Corners and played tourist, snapping some photos standing in all four states before continuing our journey.

The three photos above were taken at the Four Corners Monument. The photo on the left shows an overview of the central display with the flags of the four states and a medallion in the middle, where they meet. The center photo shows Carl standing on the medallion, so he's standing in all four states. He's pointing towards Colorado! The right photo shows the central medallion.

Lunch was in Cortez, CO, then we continued on to Mesa Verde.

They were on winter status, which shuts down two of the three driving loops in the park. We arrived just in time to take the ranger guided tour into Spruce Tree House, one of the better preserved cliff dwellings available.

From there, we drove the one loop that was open, stopping at every overlook. Cliff Palace is one of the many dwellings visible from this loop and it is still very impressive.

We finally continued on to Durango for the night.
