We got up at our usual traveling day time and had breakfast in the hotel. Then packed up and headed north.

We stopped for lunch at the Santa Maria Restaurant in St. Augustine. It’s on a pier in the river. We had eaten there back when we lived in Jacksonville. The main claim to fame is that you can feed the fish while you eat - throwing bread into the water. It’s changed a lot in the last 30 years. Not as much fun. Another memory popped....

So, we continued north. We decided to just push on through to home, which should put us in about midnight, rather than stay another night on the road. It was another hot day.

My car’s air conditioner conked out somewhere in Georgia - seems to be an icing problem, probably a stuck thermostat. It’s fine once the engine is off or if the air conditioner is turned off for a while. Then it slowly quits blowing air... So, you turn the air conditioner off and let the fan melt the ice. Soon the flow resumes, so then the air conditioner can be turned on again for a while. Vicious cycle....

We had dinner at a Cracker Barrel in Orangeburg, SC. Sandwiches with raspberry lemonade. Tasty!

We stopped at the grocery store for milk, bananas, and orange juice on the way home and pulled in a little after 12:30. We unpacked the car, but not the suitcases. That can wait until tomorrow morning... We were tired.

Unfortunately, we also found the week’s newspapers on front porch!!! I had made arrangements to have the paper held while we were out of town. Evidently the carrier forgot. Grrrrrrr. One of the neighbors must have spotted them and gathered them together, leaving them on the front porch. Wednesday’s was still soggy....
