I slept in a bit - got up at 7. I repacked the rest of my stuff, then ate breakfast. I left Mom’s about 11 and got gas in Sequim. I stopped for lunch at Smuggler’s Inn in Port Angeles after checking out ferry details for next week. Then I wound up wandering around Port Angeles for about 20 minutes - I missed the turn back to 101 from the ferry dock area and wound up seeing most of the residential streets of the town before finally getting on the right road. I stopped at Lake Crescent for some photos. Both of the photos above show views of this glacier carved lake. There was a light misty rain from there on in to Manitou Lodge, near Forks. The internet connection here mostly works - the signal strength is low. It’s better in the lodge itself. The rest of the people for this week’s retreat should be here shortly. I joined the others about 5:30 for wine and cheese and to get acquainted. Dinner was catered here at the lodge. Yum! I’ve never had salad served in a water goblet before. So far, I’m only woman in this group of ten photographers. Another one is due in on Wednesday. After dinner, we grabbed some camera gear and headed for Rialto Beach about 9 pm. Sunset is 9:30ish, but it's too overcast to see it tonight. I shot some photos there at the beach. It’s a good introduction to the week. The two photos above were taken on Rialto Beach this evening. The one on the left shows our leader, Eddie, doing some long exposures near the waves. The one on the right is looking north along the beach with one of the huge driftwood logs framing the right side. Then drove back to the cabin to settle in for the night. I'll try not to take over the whole cabin - Reena will be sharing it... |
