We slept in even later. The breakfast room was very crowded... They only have seating capacity for 10. We wound up sharing a table with a Richmond couple who come here frequently - for two weeks at a time????

After breakfast, loaded the bikes onto the car, then stopped by the grocery store’s deli for a turkey sub and trimmings, then drove to the beach.

We took off on the bikes for a couple of hours - back around the wildlife loop and the woodland loop. I still think that woodland loop has more downhill than uphill to it. I wonder how they did that? We encountered lots of teenagers with bicycles... It wouldn’t have been too bad, but they didn’t know how to share the nice wide bike paths....

Once we returned to the beach, we grabbed our grocery sack and beach towel and headed for the sand. We spread the towel on the sand and had our lunch on the beach watching the waves and the birds. There were a lot more people on the beach than on Tuesday... It’s a prettier day.

After lunch, we drove back through town to the NASA museum at Wallops Island. It was an interesting place. Neither of us knew that they still shot rockets off from here. The launch facility here was established in 1945 and was the first missile test site for the country.

The photo to the left shows one of the rocket models they had on exhibit on the grounds here. This one shows the Mercury capsule and it's support missile. Wallops Island handled the testing for the escape rocket mounted to the top of the rocket, which could pull the capsule out of danger if the main rocket had problems.

After wandering around there for a while, we drove back to town for some ice cream (really good), fill the gas tank, then back to the hotel to put the bikes back up.

We rested for a while and watched another Batman movie - this one was one of the ones with Michael Keaton, Catwoman, and Penguin.

Then to the spa again, showers. Another slow day here.

We walked down Main St. to Don’s Restaurant for dinner (clam chowder and lobster salad). Interesting. Sara Lee cheesecake for dessert....

Then we walked back to room for the night. The spa at this hotel really needs cleaning - much tooooooo much foam on it. Most of my back and patches of the rest of my body have broken out in hives.... Smothered in Benadryl... Still awake at 2 when I took a bunch of Tylenol. Finally got to sleep.
