Saturday, January 4 We slept in a bit today. We has breakfast about 8. Then off to Disneyland about 9. None of us feeling is 100%... Whatever the coughers had on the buses must be very contagious. It also comes with a fever. The cough is really bad - could feel it from the diaphragm up... We soon found out that chills were another symptom of this crud. Kelly and I were in the line for Peter Pan when Carl bailed on us. He came back to the park a couple of hours later, once he located the Imodium... While he was gone, we rode the canal boats through Storybookland and did a lot of people watching. The photo on the left shows the Evil Queen from Snow White walking through Fantasyland, greeting the crowd. This was just after we left the Peter Pan ride. The center photo shows part of Fantasyland from the Storybookland boat, with the Carousel in the background. The boat ride starts with being swallowed by Monstro the whale (in the center of the photo). The photo on the right shows the Evil Queen again as she returns to the actors' backstage area. I think she saw me sitting there with my camera and added an extra cape swish just for me. The photo on the left shows a view of the Matterhorn with the Monorail going by. . . . . . As part of our wanderings, we spotted Snow White's Grotto off to the side of Sleeping Beauty's Castle and went over for a closer look. The photo on the left shows Thumper (from Bambi) sitting on a pillar with the Castle behind him. The center photo shows Snow White's Grotto, one of the most deserted places we'd seen in the park! The photo on the right shows the statue of Dopey in this grotto. Once Carl got back we loaded up on frozen lemonade (for them) and hot tea (for me). Then we took the Jungle Cruise - the amount of puns from the "guide" had increased tooooo much. The photo on the left shows the entrance to the Jungle Cruise queue line. The center photo shows one of the funnier things about the Jungle Cruise - a cautionary sign in the queue line. Normally, I take some photos of the Cruise, but this one was boring!!! And the guide sounded bored, too. After the ride, we stepped across the way to a gift shop. The photo on the right shows some Mouse ears with plumeria blossoms. This was folllowed by a visit to the Tiki Room - always enjoyable. These three photos are from the show in the Enchanted Tiki Room. The photo on the left shows Jose, the parrot emcee of the show. The center photo shows the singing flowers. The photo on the right shows the tiki god drummers. Carl and Kelly then went on the Indiana Jones Ride, then Kelly treated us to Dole Whips. The photo on the left was taken outside the Enchanted Tiki Room and shows some of the decorations there. We stopped for more coffee and tea after the Dole Whips to warm up! By that time, I was the only one with a voice left. It started to get dark about then, so we walked across the park towards Small World. On the way, I took the photo on the right, which shows Sleeping Beauty's Castle all lit up. We walked on to Small World, where they have a special light show (most of which we missed). Then we stood in line and rode that ride. The photo on the left shows one of the lampposts in this area. It has a Canadian Mountie and a Christmas wreath on it. The center photo is the outside of the Small World ride. The photo on the right is a lighted topiary sea serpent that helps guide the queue line. The photo on the left shows the front of the Small World building as we neared the boats. The center photo shows some of the singing dolls that are used in this exhibit. The photo on the right has a bundled up Eskimo paddling his kayak. The photo on the left shows one of the large rooms with lots of the dolls in it. It also has an oversized Christmas tree and lots of candles. The center photo shows some of the Netherlands section of the ride with a goose girl, a windmill, and wooden shoed dolls sitting in tulips. The photo on the right shows some of the Indian section of the ride with a large pink elephant! The photo on the left shows a sea serpent in a Santa hat! The center photo shows the Tahitian dancer dolls in action. The photo on the right shows some Indian maidens in the foreground and Dutch kids dancing in the background. And we reached the grand finale for the ride. The photo on the left features a giant snowman wishing everyone Happy Holidays. The photo on the right wishes everyone Peace on Earth and Farewell. With that, we were through - physically, even though it was just after 6 pm. So, we took the long walk back to the hotel, where we dropped everything off before walking next door to Tony Roma's for dinner. That's it from here. Tomorrow, we pack up and head home.... We're ready. |
