Friday, January 11, 2013 We left home about 8:30. Our first stop was at Walgreens to get a charger cord for mp3 so that we could have music while on the road. The mp3 player really came in handy. It's easier than managing a stack of cds... We were soon on the road. We ran into some traffic in downtown Denver, but it was the tail end of rush hour and there's some construction, which also slowed traffic. The weather has been threatening to do something, but the snow held off, for the most part. We did encounter some light snow blowing around. Until we pulled into the northern part of Colorado Springs where we had some snow blow across the road a little more thickly. It was a very windy day through Colorado. The dust was so bad in Pueblo that traffic slowed to a crawl. There was an advisory posted for high profile vehicles to avoid the road between Pueblo and Trinidad. We spotted one semi on its side in this stretch of road. Our car was very buffeted. We stopped for lunch in Trinidad at a place called Bueno's. I had chicken strips with cottage cheese and peaches. Carl had turkey sandwich. Not bad. The wind finally settled to a steady blow, but not as fierce, the rest of the way into Albuquerque. I was driving from Raton on into Albuquerque and had the sun in my eyes from Santa Fe on in. We spent the night at Quality Suites on San Antonio Drive, near the Balloon Fiesta Park. Dinner was at the Chama River Brewery. I had a caesar salad with shrimp. Carl had a burger with sweet potato fries. It was a busy place and not bad at all! But then, it was Friday night... Facebook is being a bitch. It's decided that my account may be getting hacked, so I had to go through some security procedures to log in. However, the security question that I answered several years ago doesn't work and there's absolutely no option to change it. They've upgraded security and it's a real hassle. I wound up not accessing Facebook the entire trip, straightening out access only once I returned home. What a pain! |
