Since our tour meets at 8:15, we once again ordered a room service breakfast. Since he was so very early last time, we moved the alarm setting up. Then neither of us slept well and we were both up and dressed shortly after 6! Room service showed up promptly at 6:30.... We took the tender over to Hoonah (Icy Strait Point) for our tour. In hindsight, we should have skipped this one completely... First, a drive through the National Forest in a tram, which meant a drive just off the rocky beach in something that escaped from Disney World.... The seats were very uncomfortable. Then my camera decided to lock itself on aperture 11. Still don't know how that happened, but it corrected itself (either that or I hit the right combination of buttons... (Later note - it appears to be temperature related. If I switch to one of the automatic modes or a program, it behaves... It also behaves once it warms up.) These photos were taken at the forest tram turn around point, where we had a small break. The photo on the left looks back along the beach towards where our ship is anchored. The photo on the right shows a small waterfall trickling towards the beach. This is where I discovered that my camera was being cranky! Then back to the dock area for a Tribal Dance. More entertaining than most, but still... And no photography was allowed during the dance section. Could have skipped the tours here completely. The photo on the left shows our ship with the two tenders they were using this day. One was inbound and the other outbound. We went back to the boat for lunch (yummy croissant stuffed with turkey salad), then had a lazy afternoon. Just before dinner, the cruise ship had a "Block party"... The idea was to get you acquainted with the other passengers on your deck while sipping wine and munching snacks. And the cruise director and her assistant sped from deck to deck to shake hands with as many passengers as possible. Yes, we participated. Did we really make any friends? No. Then it was time for dinner. Another delicious one! Back to the cabin for tonight's dvd - Smurfs! |
