This photo shows the Henry Whitehead Place, Cades Cove. The original cabin is in the back, has a stone fireplace, low ceilings, small doorways, and is built from logs. It was hastily built by Matilda Shields Gregory's brothers when her husband deserted her and their small son. The front addition was added later by Matilda's second husband, Henry Whitehead) when they married. It has a brick fireplace, larger doorways, higher ceilings, and is build using square sawed logs, a technique historically between logs and plank siding.
