Mt. Rainier and Nisqually Glacier

This photo is a view of Mt. Rainier and the Nisqually Glacier. The Nisqually Glacier is the headwaters for the Nisqually River and is one of 26 glaciers gracing the slopes of Mt. Rainier. The lower portion of the glacier shown in this photo is covered in dirt, making it difficult to see. There is a thick layer of ice below the dirt. The glacier itself extends to the point where you can see the river emerging from the dirt covered ice.
