This photo shows the private gardens at Butchart Gardens. This was originally the family's personal retreat from the world. The gate on the far side looks out onto the lush lawn that is used for weddings. The pavillion on the left side of the photo is the garden house, where Mrs. Butchart would pot plants and take tea.
