This photo shows what's left of the main central plaza of Pueblo Bonita with several kivas visible. Speculation suggests that Pueblo Bonita was a ceremonial center and few people actually lived here year round. The many smaller kivas were used for smaller meeting groups while the largest, central kiva was reserved for major ceremonies. Kivas are circular rooms located below ground with the entrance through the roof. As you can see here, several small kivas abutted one another. Chaco Culture National Park, NM
